SACRAMENTO – California voters sent Kamala Harris to the U.S. Senate, and Democrats were locked in close contests to pick up Republican seats Congress and the Legislature.
Voters approved Democratic Party-endorsed Proposition 57 to help close the revolving door of incarceration and keep young people out of the criminal justice system.
Salud Carbajal won election to an open seat in the 24th Congressional District.
Most California battleground races were too close to call early Wednesday morning.
“Kamala Harris’s election served notice tonight that Democrats won’t stop fighting for our vision of a country where everyone has the same opportunity to succeed, where we recognize the threat of climate change, and where the content of our character is the test of our greatness,” said Michael Soller, Communications Director for the California Democratic Party.
